The new parking garage at Herlev Hospital has space for 524 cars on 11 staggered decks spread over five floors to the north and six floors to the south. The parking garage has good functionality, but is also an architecturally exciting building.
The facade is made of aluminium expanded metal, which is anodized in a dark bronze shade and harmonizes with the facades of the hospital's other new buildings. By angling and shifting the expanded metal sheets, a vibrant facade is created that is experienced differently from different angles.
The new parking garage is located south of the hospital's new Emergency Department and will be surrounded by green areas. To create a soft and vibrant transition from the green landscape surrounding the parking garage, the green element will also be an integral part of the parking garage. Evergreen climbing plants growing up the facade will form a green base.
