Marine insulation
Technical installations and tight spaces on ships mean that ship insulation requires special preparation and specially trained insulators - and that's exactly what you get with Norisol.
Norisol works in the marine sector with cold, heat, sound and fire insulation as well as marine outfitting and accomodation and marine interiors.
The need for insulation on ships is very significant, and fire safety requires that insulation work is done carefully. Sound insulation is also a high-priority area, as ship structures often generate annoying sounds, which propagate. Norisol has many years of experience in maritime insulation, and our skilled insulators perform both fire and sound insulation work in accordance with the latest directives from Solas, Lloyds and DNV.
Some of the major challenges when insulating ships is the many technical installations and the very confined spaces. The latter in particular places great demands on the insulator's ability to work independently, as much of it is not available as standard and therefor must be customised. It also places great demands on planning, because as much as possible must be prepared on land and then transported on board and installed.
In addition to comfort insulation, ships requires insulation work on pipe systems and insulation of exhausts with subsequent sheet metal cladding. The cladding is prefabricated to measure in our own sheet metal workshops
On ships, it is crucial that fire and smoke cannot travel from one place to another. A big part of safety on board is fire and watertight door closures. That's why it's doubly important that penetrations at technical installations everywhere are also closed fire- and airtight, otherwise fire or smoke will spread that way.
For many years, Norisol has worked with a large number of Danish shipyards to insulate both new builds and renovations of ships of all sizes and types, from small fishing vessels to yachts, ferries and cruise ships.
